About the Project:
In this project, the trends of marriage and spouse selection decisions are studied in terms of age, education level and gender. Our research which we have completed in the USA has revealed that the age of marriage has a great role in spouse selection and determining the economic status of the spouse. To be more precise, speaking for women who hold a university degree, the more the marriage age is delayed, the lower the education level of the spouse gets. This suggests that educated women who get married at a later age have lowered their selectivity thresholds in their spouse choices. Similar analyses are also being conducted for the case of women in Turkey.
