About the Project:
Throughout the project, which is being held in Building Materials and Physic Laboratory of Özyeğin University, Faculty of Architecture and Design, it is aimed to increase the energy efficiency in existing educational buildings in Turkey. Accordingly, it is intended to contribute to conserving nature, decreasing the carbon emissions and energy dependence, our national 2023 targets. The project focuses on developing a national approach which will be developed to identify the national boundary conditions to reach “Nearly Zero Energy Level” as an international research problem and also mentioned in Turkey’s National Strategic Plan. Also, a national long-term strategic plan is planned to be prepared under the scope of the project, for the improvement of existing educational campuses to nearly zero energy level. Under the scope of the project, a distinctive approach will be developed by adapting the cost-optimal methodology framework to the national climatic and economic conditions, and campus-scale analysis. The methodology will also depend on the building energy performance models which are verified by measurements. In this way, a foresight will be created for the contribution of the improvement of educational campuses to the nearly zero energy level to the national energy and economic targets and energy efficiency awareness.
Project Finding:
At the end of the project, long term strategies, which are identified under the national climatic and economic conditions, will be developed to carry the existing educational buildings and campuses to the nearly zero energy levels.
