About the Project:
LeanLab is an Innovative Transformation Program from Academia to Venture funded by the Istanbul Development Agency. The program is intended for academicians and Ph.D. candidates with business ideas that have potential for commercialization. LeanLab aims to strengthen academic entrepreneurship through university-government and university-industry collaborations. LeanLap is a practice-focused, unique training program tailored based on a set of criteria and approaches in line with the entrepreneurship ecosystem and university mechanisms in Istanbul. The program is carried out in partnership with Boğaziçi University and support from various stakeholders.
Project Finding:
* As part of the project partnerships established with 23 institutions, a total of 25 dissemination events carried out and a total of 155 hours of training provided over 3 different terms. * A total of 22 academic entrepreneurs were supported during the life time of the project. * Academic entreprenuership is promoted for those with academic backgrounds who have business ideas that have potential for commercialization. * The participants of the program received further support both financial and non-financial from various government funding programs and officially registered their companies. * 2 Demo Days were organized during the program to provide a chance for the program participant to meet investors and pitch their business ideas. * The program is a step forward applying a best-practice in the area of academic entreprenuership from abroad by adapting it to local needs and working with local parties.
