About the Project:
There are two aims of the Improving Mother-Child Attachment Relationship with Circle of Security Parenting (COS-P) Training Program project: (1) Determining the individual differences in mother-child relationship and exploring risk factors associated with insecure attachment 12-36 month old toddlers, (2) investigating short-term and long-term effectiveness of COS-P. As a part of the project, Turkish translation and psychometric properties of four questionnaires (Parental Reflective Functioning Questionnaire, Infant Intentionality Questionnaire, Coping with Toddler Negative Emotion Scale, Caregiving Helplessness Questionnaire) were completed. In order to understand the individual differences in the short-term and long-term effectiveness of COS-P training program in Turkey, we still recruit toddlers’ mothers and conduct home-visits in which we assess maternal sensitivity, child attachment and factors (i.e., perceived social support, psychological problems, and maternal stress) associated with child attachment.
Project Finding:
The COS-P training program manuals, handouts, DVD materials are translated and adopted to Turkish. Thus, people that work with parents and children will be able to benefit from the program after receiving formal training. This project will also enable to understand the individual differences in maternal characteristics and possible risk factors for insecure attachment. Furthermore, the research outcomes will facilitate designing new interventions for mothers based on their individual differences.
